Want to update my WP installto 3.1, but when I go to the “Updates” in my primary site, I see the following:

“You have the latest version of WordPress. You do not need to update. However, if you want to re-install version –, you can do so automatically or download the package and re-install manually:”

I’m assuming upgrading has been disabled, but I can’t figure out how to turn it back on. Any help?

    Thanks!

  • I don’t think that it’s been disabled, I think that you’re at the latest version. Is this a site that someone else set up for you? Perhaps they took care of the upgrade.

The version should also appear on your dashboard in the first box titled Right Now.

No, I’m definitely on 3.0.1, as reflected both in the dashboard and in the wp_options table.

Would like to get up to the latest…

So on your dashboard, where it says

You are using WordPress 3.0.1. What happens when you click the button Update to 3.1

    You mentioned above

but when I go to the “Updates” in my primary site, I see the following:

I’m not sure what you mean by this…

On the Dashboard it says “You are using WordPress 3.0.1” there is no update button.

On Dashboard > Updates (aka /wp-admin/update-core.php) I see the message in my original post above. Again, no update button. Note that instead of saying “3.0.1” on this page all references to version say “-“, as in “Download -” instead of “Download 3.0.1”

That’s very strange. I’m not sure why this is happening. If you have access to the site via FTP I would first make a back up of the database and all of the files and then try to upgrade manually.

Manual upgrade took care of it… and now the updates interface works as expected (although it took me a minute to find it in the new version).

Presumably there’s a setting hidden in there somewhere.

    Thanks for your help, Christine.

Maybe look in the functions.php file or the pugins. Perhaps there is something interfering with the upgrades.

    Glad to have helped.
