• Arrows don’t show up to show more than 1 recent post even if it has been set to show multiple recent posts. Removing and re-adding the widget sometimes fixes it so arrows appear but it will disappear again, or if the arrows stay you can’t click the arrows to go back to the most recent posts (stops at one post and arrows disappear again).

Which arrows? The plugin does not provide any arrow. It seems to be a theme specific issue. For that there is the Support forum.

    Hi Martin,

Since this widget shows recent posts with thumbnails (plural), the plugin should provide arrows or some way to tap “next” or “back” on the widget to see more than 1 recent post, based on how many recent posts you want to show in the widget settings. In the preview for customization, those arrows appear from time to time, but once “published”, it is gone.

Do you mean a Previous/Next navigation? That is not possible in widget areas but in post contents.

Can you provide a screenshot of the widget with those arrows?

See this screenshot for how the arrows show up in my customization preview (without thumbnails, sometimes it works with thumbnails sometimes it doesn’t, not sure why): https://ibb.co/dLGnSBq

This screenshot for how it looks live or published on my site: https://ibb.co/cgxsxzD (no arrows).

The widget is not updated correctly in the customizer because this function is not implemented. For example, if the checkbox “Show thumbnails” is deactivated, no thumbnails should be displayed. But thumbnails can be seen in your screenshot. Therefore, please do not notice the preview of the widget in the customizer.

The saved settings and the output on the website are decisive. If you want to display the “View post” links, activate the checkbox for the “Read more” links.

I am aware that thumbnails do not appear when you do not check the “Show thumbnails” box. What I was trying to show in the screenshot is that arrows are available and do show up randomly. Sometimes by checking or unchecking the thumbnail box, it appears or does not appear. Sometimes when I remove the widget completely and add it again, it appears and does not appear. It is inconsistent. Last month when I first installed it, the arrows showed with thumbnails and after publishing, the arrows turned to squares. After I removed the widget and added it again, the arrows and the squares didn’t appear at all.

In the settings, I don’t see anything like a “show arrows” checkbox, for example. But it does say “Show xx number of posts”. For any number greater than 1 (for example if I put show 5 posts), there should be arrows or again some sort of function where users can click through the previews of the 5 most recent posts. That is currently not available or working correctly.

Yes, there is no “show arrows” option. Since you want arrows in the “Read more” links you can set an arrow in the “Read more” text field option. Use the string » for a right pointing arrow. This way is a safe way to show arrows. But this can not prevent showing two arrows at one link.

The inconsistence of the display of arrows is not a bug of this plugin. The plugin does not generate any arrows unless you type it in the “Read more” text field. It is a theme issue since arrows can be also set via CSS. Please contact the theme author.

    Hi Martin,

Thank you for your quick replies on my issue. I have submitted a support report to the theme author and it is now resolved. My review has been updated to include your timely support in this thread.
