No album thumbnails display when file contains "umlauts"

Hi,
the topic title is self explanatory. It seems that if the filename of the file that is picked for album thumbnail contains an “umlaut” (?,?,ü), the preview thumbnail is not displayed.
I think it is a relatively new issue, but cannot confirm that for certain.
