• Hello…

I was trying to tweak footer code and must have stripped out some important code, as now I can’t get back onto site.

I have recent back up, stored both on my server and desktop. I just need to figure out how to get access to my admin panel so that I can change themes (?) and get my site back to being operational.

Because I modified the themes code (apparently), the site has gone down all together, and I’m unable to do anything.

Any advise would be very much appreciated!

Access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the Twenty Ten theme to activate.

    Hi James…

Thanks so much for the speedy response. Tried the above, but no luck. I know this has something to do with coding relating to the theme. I’m near panic…worked long and hard on the design. Sigh…

I have back up sql. Can you help me with restoring, or point me to a thread that does, remember – no admin panel access. Sorry for the trouble, I have learned a hard lesson!

In that case, rename the theme’s directory back to what it was and try replacing the footer template with the copy from your backup.

No luck again…thanks for your prompt responses and effort to help.

Try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    James,

I rebuilt the site from scratch, but want to let you know that I appreciated your assistance.

    Cheers…
