No "Add New" option under Plugins

  • Hi, I have a brand new site, with no plugins other than the Hello Dolly and Akismet. The site is Thismanlydad.com with WP version 3.4.2. I’ve looked over other support posts on this same issue. I tried switching to Twenty Ten and Twenty Eleven, but that didn’t resolve the issue. And there hasn’t been the Add New option from the very beginning, which was right after the current version of WP was released.
    I’m not really savvy at all when it comes to PHP, FTP, etc, so please be patient with me.

  • Are you sure you are running WordPress 3.4.2? That’s a very old theme that you are using. Can you please switch to Twenty Eleven first?

    Absolutely positive I’m using 3.4.2. Says on the Dashboard that I am. And it’s switched to Twenty Eleven now.

    Did you install WordPress manually?

    I have a friend who did everything for me. I believe she did do it manually, but I’m waiting to hear back from her before confirming that.
