• I just upgraded to 2.5, everything went flawlessly and everything appears to be working except for the fact that when I click on “Write Post” and where there is suppose to be the “Add Media” button like Matt showed in his podcast, there is nothing there. Am I missing something here? I’ve downloaded the new code twice now and uploaded it. Here is a screenshot…

  • You’re not alone. However the “Add media” buttons shows up when i write new page. Funny how the RC versions worked better than the stable one.

Well guys, I think I may have found my problem…

I was able to get the “Add Media” buttons to appear after deactivating the PhotoXhibit plug-in that I have installed. I have version 2.1.0 of it so it is completely up to date, but it looks like WP 2.5 isn’t going to play nice with it and let me have the option of both ways of uploading photos. It’s just one or the other at this point. If you are having this same problem, try deactivating that plug-in.

I had version WP 2.3.3 before this upgrade and was able to upload photos via WP and also the PhotoXhibit plug-in.

    One problem, i don’t use PhotoXhibit plug-in…

You might try deactivating all your plug-ins and checking to see if it gives you the option of the “Add Media” buttons. There could be some other ones that aren’t working with it.

I’m having the same problem. “Add Media” appears on Write Page, but not on Write Post. Deactivating all plugins has no effect.

“Add Media” was working fine for both Posts and Pages in the RCs.

I’m having the same problem in one of my blogs, but not others… the WP-Amazon plugin als conflicts with the “add media” buttons.

Hey mjfiszman, I’m having the SAME problem. Tried everything from copying the wp-admin and wp-include folders, deactivating all plugins, reinstalling WP 2.5.1, refreshing, clearing the cache.. All of it. But still cannot get the Media buttons in the ‘Write Post’ page (though it appears on the ‘Write Page’ page)!

This turned up to ba a problem on my blog after updating to from 2.5.1 to 2.6

media-buttons are invisible and also togbox (the toggle buttons for the option panels) are not inserted.

This only affects the “write post” and not the “write page”.

i tried deactivating all my plugins, clearing cache, other browser… no go.

    Anyone got a clue?

Try deleting the admin and includes folders, then re-copy the new ones from 2.6.

Well, did that when updating, but just to be sure I just re-copied them again and still no go.

weird, because when using page-new.php instead of post-new.php everything is how its supposed to be.

    Ok, pinpointed it down:
seems like gears does not like my post.js file. When gears is activated (wether in ff or ie), post.js returns blank. Gears off, and all is good.

I’ll hava another look at gears to see what can be done.

    Thanks all!

    Hello !

I have the same problem with WP 2.6, i desactivated the Customize 1.0.2 plugin set with the Freshy 2.0.7 theme and it’s ok…

I’m running WP 2.6.1 and had the same problem – the add media buttons were missing. I found it was one of the plugins that was causing it, which I’m not sure how it’s connected. But I deactivated all the plugins and one by one, reactivated them. Isolated the Communications 1.0.1 plugin. Now the add media buttons are back.

    From the sticky thread:

    4. Another known issue is where the media buttons don’t appear at all. This happens when you have an older plugin interfering with the JavaScript. I encountered this problem with an older version of WP-Amazon, but any plugin loading its own jQuery can cause the issue. Disable your plugins and see if the buttons appear. If so, reactivate one by one until they don’t appear any more. Upgrade all your plugins as well.

Thanks a lot for the hints! I have deactivated the WP-Amazon plugin and now I see the buttons to upload media on the page and on the entry pages ??
