    Hi

I installed Pareto Security plugin (ver 1.3.7) for WordPress – my site worked fine. I then enabled the plugin’s advance mode and my site was no longer accessible.

I could not access my admin area – 403 forbidden. My site was no longer available via any browser – 403 Forbidden.

I have since changed the name of pareto security directory – vai FTP – but this has made no differnce, I still cannot access my site or my admin area; they are still 403 Forbidden by the server.

Is there anything you can do to enable me to access my site and the admin area?

No reply from Pareto Securtiy support.
My hosting company (Vidahost) on the otherhand, found that Pareto Secuirty plugin had added bans for a number of IPs to the .htaccess file, which they commented, and disabled the plugin. It has now been deleted.

Sorry about the late reply. Yes Pareto Security in advanced mode does add bans to website htaccess if it is writeable. It can on odd occasions cause have positives. I have endeavored to address any false positives in regular updates. Sorry this has happened.

There was a bug in the first release of 1.3.7 which was quickly fixed, unfortunately a few people that downloaded it in that short period of time experienced the issue you referred to.

For anyone else experiencing issues of this sort, firstly if you are not familiar with htaccess then do not use Pareto Security in advanced mode. It will work fine in its default setting.

Secondly if you are familiar with .htaccess files, and do experience a false positive ban, go to your websites root directory and edit the htaccess bans in the .htaccess file.

If anyone else experiences this issue please notify me here.
