Very weird thing. Been using the plugin for months (very happily, I might add), and every few days would go through the 404 list to clean it out and deal with any suspicious entries. Usually accumulated 30-40 per day. Was dealing with an issue regarding another plugin yesterday and disabled AIOWS to eliminate a conflict there (no conflict). When I re-enabled, I had to manually restore some settings from memory (obviously didn’t deactivate correctly). Ever since, I have accumulated zero (0) 404 entries… Guess that’s a good thing, usually, but seems pretty odd–especially since a couple of the biggest/most consistent offenders were Yahoo and Google crawlers (which I obviously didn’t want to block)… So… what might I have turned on/off that would suddenly result in zero (0) 404s, when I was normally seeing at least 30-40 per day? Is this something to be concerned about?

Hi, that could be a good sign. I would not worry too much about 404 error messages especially if you know that you don’t have any broken links and all your URLs are correct.

It might have to do with the conflict you had before with the other plugin. If you are concerned for what ever reason and you want to investigate further then try the following. Type an incorrect URL from your website, which should generate a 404 error not found message. Then log into your website and check the 404 error log to see if your recent 404 error is recorded.

    Thank you

Yeah the best thing to do is what mbrsolution suggested and generate some 404s yourself to verify that feature.

Well, of course… [smh] OK, so I tried the obvious (which wasn’t so obvious to me, obviously), and confirmed, AIOWS is not logging any 404s. Not that it’s a huge deal, but something’s not right. Any suggestions on where to look? The “other plugin” I mentioned in a previous post was actually not a problem, so I don’t think it’s a conflict issue. I was unable to upload a 30Mb video clip and discovered the setting in AOIWS that limits uploads to 10Mb–but only after I deactivated AOIWS, which is what apparently led to this current issue. As I said, not a huge deal, I guess, but when one thing isn’t working the way you think it should be, then you spend a lot of time wondering what else might not be working as it should…

You need to have the following checkbox enabled:
Enable 404 IP Detection and Lockout
