Certain hosting providers specially the VPS either do not come with firewalls or are available as add-ons.

Wanted to know just having Ninja Firewall would suffice. Or do we need to install the firewall from the VPS as well?

I don’t really see the point to add another firewall, unless it has some extra features that aren’t available in NF.

Does the NF protect from DDoS?

No it can’t. You would need to put your entire server behind an appliance or anti-DDoS network to protect your from those attacks.

But why would you face a DDoS? Unlike hacking attempts, DDoS attacks aren’t random, instead they hit specific targets. Unless you’re running a gaming server, casino/porn/bitcoin site or any other similar risky businesses, you are unlikely to face a DDoS attack.

The VPS providers present DDoS protection as an add-on service, as they allow to host multiple websites on an individual server instance.
