I’ve tried several gallery plugins hoping to find the right combination features but date haven’t been unsuccessful. Modula looks the most promising, but the free/demo version is too limiting to make a valued judgement. I’m looking for the ability to do a simple crossfade slideshow (image to image without fading to black or white in between) that can handle a mix of landscape and portrait (horizontal and vertical) images. The theme I’m using (Kreativa) does this quite well, but the way it handles a masonry layout is distracting. It’s possible the paid version of Modula offers this, but I can’t find any documentation on actual features. I’ve been disappointed too many times paying for full versions that don’t quite deliver so I’ll keep looking for now. That said, I think this plugin will make most people very happy.

  • Hi @skylightphotography!

First off, thank you for taking the time to leave a review – and one with genuine feedback!
I do want to take a moment to touch on:

I must admit I am not sure I completely understand what you are looking for in order to guide you further. Is it possible to give me a bit more details or an example?
Are you looking for a lightbox slideshow without an effect, for example: https://modula.gallery/blog/modula-gallery/transition-effect-none/
Here is one with a transition effect in the slideshow for comparison: https://modula.gallery/blog/modula-gallery/transition-effect-slide/

Or are you looking for a slider? Demo here: https://modula.gallery/blog/modula-gallery/slider-image-size-medium/

    Looking forward to your reply!

    Warmly,
    Mihaela

    Hello Mihaela,

    Thank you for the reply!

What I’m looking for is very much like the lightbox without an effect example. However, I would like the images to slowly crossfade between each other rather than the quick cut in the example. As I mentioned, my current theme does it very well, but it’s gallery masonry layout re-arranges the images whenever the browser changes size which is very distracting. So in other words. I’d like to display my images in a gallery featuring horizontal and vertical images (without cropping). Masonry seems to be the best for this. When I click on an image I’d like it to see a lightbox open that plays the images (without cropping) with SLOW crossfades. Bonus would be the ability to adjust the fade rate.

Hope that better describes what I’m looking for.

    Thanks!

Hi Mark! Thanks a bunch for explaining!
We do have the option to increase/decrease the fading effect. And the most similar to what you need, I believe, is this lightbox effect: https://modula.gallery/blog/modula-gallery/transition-effect-zoom-in-out/
The transition effect speed can be increased so that the crossfade is even slower.
    Hope this helps!

    Warmly,
    Mihaela
