• developer needs to think like a novice and write some better tutorials. As it sits the novice users have NO IDEA what to do, what to imput.. etc.
It’s a shame really… I think it might work ok if the guidance were there.

I’m curious as to what additional guidance you would like to see? If there is something I’ve missed in the readme or description, I would be more than happy to add it.

As it is, I have included instructions on how to use each of the various shortcodes to display content related to products. Other than that, the products are imported as posts in a custom post type and are viewable/usable as any other post type would be in WordPress. The post type has its own category and tag taxonomies and archive page as well.

On the settings page, there are screenshots showing the user how to obtain their API Keys and shop IDs with which to import products from their Etsy shop. I’m not sure that there is a way to make this aspect any more clear.

I would love to help novice users as much as I can, so if there are any specific details you feel I have left out or that you would like to see included, please let me know.

    Thanks!

I find this sort of funny. Did you realize that this post was done over 7 months ago?

Managing plugins doesn’t always get to fall on top of my radar, and I hadn’t been receiving email notifications on posts in the forums/reviews.

So, no, I don’t think it’s funny and I’m doing my best to lend my hand and assist in whatever way possible. The length of time between your initial post and my response is not an indication of my desire to answer your request(s) and assist you in whatever way I can.

sylviaivie This is completely unfair to a plugin developer who has given freely of their time to provide advanced functionality such as this. Poor reviews cannot be removed by anyone other than the poster. If you’re willing to take the time to provide a bad review, can you not be generous enough to update your review or provide feedback as to how to improve it?

    Justin Sternberg.

If you read my first post you see what I said could/would be helpful.

So Now I will say… Mind your own business.

    Sylvia,

Plugin authors create them to give back to the community out of the goodness of their hearts – and support requests aren’t a paying gig. These things take time, which some of us do not have.

He has documentation, examples, etc. which make the plugin documentation more than comprehensive. Not every plugin author owns recording software to make video walk-throughs, and most plugins don’t merit one.

Please consider the amount of effort that went into making this, and realize that if you wanted same-day response time, you should probably find a web developer to pay for premium time.

Thanks for the kind words and response, Justin and Eric.

Additionally, if there is a legitimate support issue, then the place for that is the support forum – not as a review.

@sylvia, I’m one to not mind my own business, so I just wanted to jump in and ask how you think you’re entitled to immediate plugin support from a FREE plugin that YOU decided to use? I have to deal with people like you all the time here on the support forums, as a developer who maintains a free plugin as well. I don’t care if it’s been three years. He’s offering to help you. I guess I missed the part where you were forced to use this plugin. You do realize that this developer is A REAL PERSON right? Not a robot. Not a youtube video that you can just leave comments on. Your comments, directly go to the person who built the plugin, and it also travels around our VERY small and tight-knit community. What if this developer was ill for 5 months and you posted something like that?

Somehow part of me thinks that you wouldn’t even care.

As Eric above has stated, we do this for free as a way of giving back to the community, and you are under zero obligation to utilize these tools that are available to you for free, nor are you entitled any support to begin with.

I typically “mind my own business” but when I see such a blatant lack of respect and gratitude from someone like you, it’s not something I like to ignore.

This is such an unfortunate use of the WordPress rating system and is a disservice to the community as a whole. If there is an issue, it’s supposed to be posted in the forums. Not understanding how to use something because you aren’t able to wrap your mind around the instructions and/or don’t appreciate what’s gone into making a FREE plugin (especially one like this) available gives you no right to use the reviews as a way to “stick it” to the developer because you didn’t get everything you wanted. And then telling someone else to mind their own business?? You posted in a public forum where anyone can respond. The arrogance and sense of entitlement among people like you is nauseating.

If the free option is not up to your standards, go spend money on a custom solution and also pay the developer to fully document everything and teach you how to use it. Leaving a negative review in this way shows nothing less than a complete disregard for the people who make WordPress such an amazing tool and make it possible for users like you to affordably build your website. Imagine if quality developers stopped providing free plugins and you had to pay for everything. Seeing as how you’re complaining about free software, you probably wouldn’t like that.
