Hi @akgt,
We do offer the ability to change the colour scheme via the “Admin Color Scheme” menu item of our plugin. This changes the default colours of WordPress admin to the selected colour scheme. We don’t provide like a theming system which may do more obtrusive edits which those other solutions may offer. Our plugin is more of a toolset, in that we offer the ability to customise the admin CSS, and this would enable a developer to do those more obtrusive customisations to the WordPress admin area if they should desire, and do so in a way which is to their liking and not limited by something chosen for them. I have for example done some major aesthetic changes for clients using admin CSS alone to the WordPress backend (and this is probably how those other themes/plugins are doing it).
I do appreciate your feedback, and I think it is good feedback. For now, our plugins focus is on providing a good toolset for developers to do this customisation. I would recommend using one of the solutions you mentioned if they achieve a look and feel you desire out of the box and with far less effort ??
Thank you!
Thank you for the very fast reply.
Admin Color Scheme is a nice feature to have but you still limited to the basic wp-admin design which is not very nice.
I do understand you offer offer the ability to customise the admin CSS but as you have said “this would enable a developer” which I’m not and most people using plugins will not be but still want a clean simple way to customize the admin area, so it does not look so dated
“I have for example done some major aesthetic changes for clients using admin CSS alone to the WordPress backend”
is this something you would be willing to share ?Custom logo in Admin area Since you already do a lot on the custom login page I would assume it would not need a lot to add more to it. Example Background image Background Repeat Scale background image Hide Back to blog link Hide Remember me Login button colors Login page title You already have the custom css option I had a few freezing issues when testing the plugins Some issues I've noticed if they are of help to you. Hi @akgt,
As I said, our plugin is not trying to offer every possibility and can’t of course do everything. It is designed to be a toolkit. If a more simple themed approach is needed/desired, it may be best to use other solutions for this.
The customisations I have done have been very very client specific and wouldn’t be a good template for most people. And this experience is in part to what led me to develop a toolkit then a ‘pick your template’ approach. Because for the 95%+ of my clients the standard WordPress admin is satisfactory but for those 5% of clients who needed something, they needed something very much tailored to their specific needs and brand requirements. They are all vastly different from each other. People also have different tastes, what you consider dated, might be someone else’s modern, and your modern might be someone else’s dated. So I just don’t want to get involved in designing themes that people may never use and when there’s existing solutions that exist anyway.
Thanks,
Thanks
ill keep a eye on the plugin.
