• READ UPDATES BELOW – THE SUPPORT IS GREAT.

I like that it is free and easy to use. But it has bugs. I have had three somewhat major issues that have rendered this plugin useless.

Support is decent and helpful. But really too many bugs for use at a professional level.

Update: the bugs were fixed and most were due to my clients editing files incorrectly.

I am impressed that support is so helpful, even for us free users.

I will not hesitate to buy additional features when needed.

Update Two: I had another issue with this plugin due to a WP upgrade. The owner of the plugin was super helpful and we resolved the issue in less than 24 hours. I wish other plugins were as supported.

    These guys deserve 5 stars

  • Hi aksteve,

Sorry that you had a negative experience here with the plugin. I don’t see any forum threads here on WP.org that have your name on them. What specific issues did you encounter that we didn’t address?

We are very responsive and will fix any critical issues immediately. It would really help the plugin improve if you can enumerate these so we can make it better for others in the future.

I believe I may have found your three threads on our main site (awpcp.com)–two of them look to be possible conflicts (20 ads link to one, the backend ads can’t show correctly when clicking on the links). These were posted about 5 hours ago when you posted this same review, and are most likely solvable issues here–let’s work through things here first.

I believe we can make you successful with the plugin if you give us a chance to do so.

    Thread Starter Steve

Yes. That is me. Three bugs. The first one took many weeks to fix. Sorry for the so-so review. I am impressed you contacted me though. I’d like to get this resolved. The idea of having to install a new classified ad system is not exciting. But my client is frustrated.

    Hi Steve,

Let’s get back to the support threads then–I see you haven’t responded to my questions from yesterday. I need you to run those conflict tests and see.

Looking at your first thread from 2 months ago, we’ve been responding within 24 hours of each posting and then there have been long delays from you to respond. In the end, I recall that your AWPCP pages were not properly restored after an accidental delete–which isn’t a bug in the plugin itself but a configuration error. I apologize for it taking so long, but we can only respond as fast as you do in that case.

Please reply to your two active threads with answers to the questions I have and we can get this resolved more quickly. Like I said, this appears to be conflicts with something else on your site. The basic functionality of the plugin does indeed work as you can see on the demo. The issues you raise here would be affecting hundreds of customers if they were in our plugin as bugs.

    Hi Steve,

Looking at your site directly, we found the issue for the 20 ads “linking” back to one: It was just that someone removed the shortcode from the “Show Ad” page and wrote some text instead. That text made it look like the same “ad” was being displayed over and over.

I added the shortcode back and everything’s fine now.

As for the filtering issue, it seems that there may be some confusion on how it works. You select what you want to filter by, and then you need to click the “Filter” button. If you don’t do that, nothing happens. Perhaps you thought the filters worked as you selected them. It turns out that’s not the case.

If we missed something here, please let me know.

In light of this, could you reconsider your review of AWPCP since it wasn’t actually related to bugs?
