    Hello,

    Very impressive plugin so far. Super easy and works like a charm, even with custom post types. Very fast!

    Two questions, please:

    1. Is there a way for users to manage their subscriptions, like limit number of notifications per day or to limit to certain categories? (Can admin do it?)

    2. Is the following description of the free service from the plugin FAQ on www.remarpro.com still accurate? I ask because I’ve seen a couple comments from people who were facing charges they didn’t seem to be expecting.

    “Webpushr is completely free and will remain forever-free for up to 60000 (60K) subscribers. No credit card or any form of payment method is required as long as your total number of subscribers remain less than 60000 (60K).”

    I’m not against paying, just want to make sure I’m clear about when that would be necessary. (Do you accept PayPal?)

    Thank you for trying out Webpushr. Answers to your questions:

    1- There is no way for subscribers to limit number of notifications per day or to limit to certain categories. There is a possibility that we will add a topic based subscription feature where the user can select from a pre-defined (set by admin) list of topics at the time of subscription. These topics will be shown in the opt-in prompt and the user will be able to select which topics to receive notifications on. Let us know if that will help.

    2- The description of our free tier is accurate. Please let us know where you see comments related to people seeing charges they weren’t expecting so we can clarify. We do not accept PayPal at this time. We use Stripe as our payment processor, and we accept all types of credit/debit cards.

    Thanks for the fast reply.

    1. A user will likely not be yet familiar with a site when she first sees the opt-in prompt so, in my opinion, it would be better to have no topics than to ask a user to select topics before knowing what they may include — especially if there is no way to reconfigure later. Locked in topics on subscription would not be desirable.

    More important is the ability for admin to throttle number of notifications in a day.

    2. Please consider accepting PayPal, for sake of security.

    Here is a comment where a user describes a charge he wasn’t expecting:

    “After the last update, I can no longer send messages without paying.”

    Thank you for the quick response.

    1- Thank you for the feedback on this. Super helpful. We agree that locking in topics at subscription is not ideal, especially as you said, if the user is not familiar with the website and the topics. Looks like we need to think this through a little bit more.
    2- We will also look into possibly adding a configurable throttling mechanism. It does not exist today. Keep in mind that you can always control whether or not a push message is sent out when you publish/update a post using either the metabox checkbox or our plugin’s configuration settings (auto push checkbox).
    3- We will consider adding PayPal as an option.
    4- Webpushr does not store your credit card information on it’s servers. We have partnered with Stripe to handle all online payments. Doing so allows us to remove the burden of processing payments to a dedicated, verified and highly secure payment operator. Payments on Webpushr are therefore safe as we could possibly make them to be.
    5- Thank you for sending the comment regarding pricing. Note that we are only free for up to 60K users. Our pricing page (webpushr.com/pricing) has more information on how our pricing tiers work. The description on our plugin page is also accurate.

    2. That’s a good feature, thanks for bringing it to my attention. This question was prompted by a desire not to overwhelm with notifications on a site that allows user-submitted posts. Disabling default notifications puts control back with the administrator who can then, on individual posts, check “Send Web Push Notification” and update the post, thereby making a notification for that particular post.

    That method is a pretty decent substitute for throttling and in some ways better, as it allows an admin to curate notification-worthy posts. It could be made a little more efficient by including the “Send Web Push Notification” checkbox in the post’s Quick Edit options in the admin dashboard, if you were so inclined.

    3, 4, 5. Stripe is a perfectly acceptable alternative. Your pricing seems reasonable and clear.

    I saw a post by @herky-fishbine on www.remarpro.com asking about using GloriaFoods plugin on multiple restaurants in a single website. I am interested in doing the same thing and wonder if @herky-fishbine has any insight as to how this has worked? Also, if @herky-fishbine would be willing to share with me the URL of the site where he is using this so I can see how it looks/behaves. I have a directory site on which I’d like to do the same thing. Thank you!

    Hello @armandoarrastia,

    With apologies to webpushr.

    I only installed the plugin in a test environment. I experimented with what it was like for a restaurant to add menu items and configure. What I saw was encouraging that the plugin is well designed. Since it is free to use, you don’t have anything to lose my giving it a try and seeing if you agree with my assessment.

    Thanks for the reply. I do like the plugin. The only downside I see to trying it with a live restaurant is that if it doesn’t work or mixes up prices and products we’re in trouble. But I’ve played with it on my own site (not a restaurant) and it seems to work very well.
