    I still don’t understand if caching works in the Nginx environment or not?

    The caching within the plugin will not work if you have nginx caching enabled. You would need to disable nginx caching, please see here for a guide: https://www.hostgator.com/help/article/mod-deflate

    Wether nginx caching should be enabled depends on the nature of your site but the above document should help you decide if you want nginx caching enabled.
