• Hey I’m using the nextgen slideshow for the front page of my site but in IE8 the images do not load and the loading animation is just shown.

Any ideas why it’s not working as this slideshow should work in IE8 as I have seen other examples where it works fine.

    Here is the page: laalmuna.com

    Works perfectly in firefox/chrome/safari.

    1) Thank you for the solution – It worked perfectly for me
    2) an even bigger thank you for making it easy to find the v1.03

I had it running properly within five minutes of finding this thread, so I also thank mioscene22 for starting the thread!

I had a look at your site in IE8, and I found that your problem is differ than mine. I didn’t have such messages from IE8, it just didn’t show images, but at your site it does but with some messages about scripts and so on. To my mind, there is a script-conflict on your site. Try to deactivate your plugins temporarily, one-by-one, and watch for changes…

you were right, although it was the loading jquery from the googlr api that did it!

    https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.1/jquery.min.js

i was calling this in the functions file. i removed this and the slideshow widget now works in IE 7 and 8. many thanks!

Worked for me too. Thanks to @kg69design

It’s very interesting to me, why nextgen support-team don’t try to fix this bug. Even their demo-page do not work in IE8. (All seems to be good at first, but if your reload the page – slideshows not working).

I have sent a bug-report to nextgen support-team, but nothing. it’s a pity, cause I like this plugin.

Thanks a BUNCH kg69design! Odd that a revision of the code would break function in a browser that is not so old yet. IE8 is garbage but so many luddites use it because they dont’ know any better or even what a browser is. Pisses me off but I have to deal with it anyway.

Thanks for your solution. Made my day. -c-

Just want to say that the fix kg69design provided still works.

    Thank you!

    Thank you!

You are welcome. It’s a pity but a new version 1.8.2 from 2011-7-12 did not solve the problems with IE8. Still not working, even an official demo site…

But I really don’t understand why the author ignore this topic. As you can see on his personal page (link), he replied to many topics except this one. Many authors don’t like IE6,7,8 but it is a good practice to write about it, something like “don’t supported IE6,7,8″…

    Really great job!

For those who don’t know how to fix this:

    1. Download the correct javascript file (thanks to kg69design!)

    2. Replace it with wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/js/ngg.slideshow.min.js (don’t forget to upload)

    3. Refresh your site! En voila! ??

Wow, this last one was very easy to do, thanks, I hope this solves the problem!

    Thanks BartRomsterr and @kg69design!

Thanks for this. It was the javascript version in my case. Saved me a lot of work!
