NextGEN Gallery Update messed up the aligment of my thumbnails

NextGen was working fine, but after upgrading the columns on my site are screwed up. If I set it to zero the thumbnails are distributed evenly, but if I specify any other number of columns I get weird line breaks with uneven rows.

For example 3 gives me a row of 3 thumbnails, then 1, then a row of 2.

It appears to be the gallery templates that are causing the problem. If don’t select any template the rows and columns are even, but the spacing is very tight with them aligned to the left, instead of having padding and filling the width of the page, which is how it was before I updated.
