NextGen gallery stopping opening of PDF in Document Gallery

    I have a site where I display a set of thumbnails of PDF newsletters using Document Gallery to produce the thumbnails and display the table of newsletters. On a different page I have a display of images using NextGen Gallery. All are the most recent plugins.

    Recently I noticed that when you click on thumbnail of a PDF, the page hangs. The developer of Document Gallery concluded that another plugin was stopping the PDF from opening. After a bit of trial and error checking, I found that when I deactivate NextGen, the PDFs open immediately. If I activate it again, the issue returns.

    Any thoughts?

    @steheap – Given it appears to be a conflict with the Lightbox effects being used by the PDF plugin I would suggest looking at our plugins and making sure that they are not using the same Lightbox Effect. Although I am not familiar with the PDF plugin you can look under Gallery > Other Options > Lightbox Effects for the bundled libraries we include with NextGEN Gallery as a convenience.

    I would suggest looking at the “What must the lightbox be applied to?” option and/or changing/turning off the NextGEN Gallery Lightbox Effect as possible work-arounds.

    Thanks – I hadn’t been to that part of your plugin. I set it to “Only apply to NextGEN images” and the problem has been resolved

    @steheap – Thanks for the follow-up! That would be the “default” setting for the Lightbox Effects.
