NextGen Gallery Slideshow upgrade not working
-
Yesterday (21 June 09) I upgraded the NextGen Gallery plugin to the latest version, unfortunately, the slideshow has stopped working. It shows the “loading image” icon but never actually load an image.
It worked fine on the previous version of the plugin.gbassoc

I have a different problem, when trying to insert a slideshow the post simply reads:
The Flash Player and a browser with Javascript support are needed..
However I have the latest flash player installed and I am using Firefox 3.012, with Javascript definitely enabled.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Ok sorry, to waste your time. The problem was in my themes files. – Thanks for the awesome plugin.

– updated my permission rites to both read/writebut still no luck. pls pls help! thanks alot!
Hello all,
I nearly pulled out all of my hair with this one, and nobody’s comments helped me.
In my case it turned out to be simpler than I thought. Basically, what happened is that the format for the code that was required to display the latest version of NextGen’s slideshow had changed, and NextGen didn’t message that anywhere in the plugin.
I forgot what the old code was, but here is what I had to replace that old code with:
<?php echo do_shortcode('[nggallery id=1 slideshow)]'); ?>
(my gallery name was simply “1”, so that’s where the “id=1” is coming from)
I sincerely hope that this spares someone the hours of hair-pulling and fruitless Google searches.
And NextGen/Alex, I love your plugin to death, but if you could message that change to users that would be a major bonus for everyone and probably save you some panicked emails as well!

Doron
Hi all, like many others I’m suffering the endless rotatoring ‘loading’ circle. I’ve been looking for answers for a week or so now trying everything I’ve read;
moving the imagerotator.swf file to various locations
deactivating plugins & resetting plugins
…and nothing is working for me.
I’m using WP 2.9.1, nextgen 1.4.3, and a freshly downloaded imagerotator.swf
please has anyone got a definate solution to this?@doron this may be the solution everyone is looking for – if you can remember where and what you changed it would be great!
try this pricen2
I’m having the same problem as above:
The path to imagerotator.swf is not defined, the slideshow will not work.
If you would like to use the JW Image Rotatator, please download the player here and upload it to your Upload folder (Default is wp-content/uploads).But I followed David Rabe’s response and made sure my path was correct.
https://66.147.240.158/~sculptu3/wp-content/uploads/imagerotator.swf
In a browser, that screen is black, but back in the WP dashboard, under Gallery/Options/General, I still have this error message.I found the solutio to my own question about how to get rid of the imagerotator.swf path error message. It was nicely explained in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJmav9yMq3w
The part that is dumb – and confusing, is the warning is in options. The warning should mention you need to go to the SLIDESHOW tab to change/search for the correct path there FIRST.
Hope this helps.
I had both the NGG Gallery on my Photos page as well as one in my sidebar. I read through all of the posts and here’s what I did:
1) Upload the JW Imagerotator files to the Uploads folder as prescribed.
2) Go to Gallery > Options > and at the top click on Slideshow.
3) Enter the pathname to the imagerotator.swf file or use the auto search option. The above will set the JW player for your NGG Gallery. However, if you would like to have a rotating gallery in your sidebar, this is what I did and it worked:
4) Go to Appearance > Widgets
5) Instead of dragging the NextGEN Gallery “Sidebar” Widget from the left to the right (to activate it), drag the NextGEN Gallery “Slideshow” from the left to the right.
6) Select your desired options and you should be set!If I tried to do steps 4-6 using only the NGG “Sidebar” Widget, I could see an image in my sidebar and it would change when I clicked on it, but it wouldn’t auto-rotate. Removing the “Sidebar” widget and adding the main “Slideshow” widget to my sidebar solved my problems. I hope this provides some help for others as well.

PS: Props to Alex and the others who helped make this awesome plugin possible!
Hi
My problem is even worse ..
After not using wordpress for a while, i restarted. Everything workin gfine. Cheking the nextgen plugin, it said there was an upgrade.
After upgrading . Nothing works. I have BLANK SCREENS.
So i un-install. Re*install, still every link I click (overview, manage gallery, add gallery, rest/uninstall, about) gives me completely blank pages ??HELP !
Hi.
First of all, I love the plug-in, it is great.
But unfortunately I have a problem with the slideshow, I made sure to locate the imagerotator.swf properly (without www), I changed back the link structure (as suggested somewhere here) but all I got is the black window with the loading logo and that is that. I have this problem for quite a while (I think since late 2009) but until now I would not bother, well until now.
The one thing I noticed is that sometimes, for whatever reasons, the rights are wrong for the imagerotator.swf (I manually set them back to 755). But still it won’t work.
Have a look here…
