nextgen gallery search function

I have been searching for years for a search feature for nextgen. I keep finding old topics, since nextgen have been acquired is there now a search function for the public to search through the gallery?

If there isn’t let me know if there an alternative to nextgen that supports a thumbnail gallery with search by tags and name.
