I have searched the support forum.
I have deactivated all other plug-ins and I have re-activated NextGen Basic on it’s own.
Still the Gallery option in the Dashboard is missing, as well as, the Gallery menu tab in posts and pages.
It is not showing up at all, anywhere, except the plugin list.
    My theme is Twenty Thirteen.
    Should I preform a complete re-install?
    Thanks, for any help.

    Cais:

As mentioned,we are running s2Member as well. Although we are up and running, under NextGen “Other Options” / “Roles and Capabilities”, , if I changed the role to “Administrator” in each category from “s2Member Level 4” that s2Member seems to have defaulted, – I lost NextGen once again.

I have it back after reverting the settings back to “s2Member Level 4” and running Reset but it appears I cannot move away from the “s2Member Level 4” setting in that option.

Perhaps, it is a setting I may adjust in s2Member and I do not wish to pass judgement, but for lack of a better term, beware of membership plugins that hijack the definition of Administrator.

    Thank you for this update.

    and thank you, Cais!

@ldp-154 – That is good to know … but likely something to do with as you referred to it “membership plugins that hijack the definition of Administrator.”

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

@ldp-154 : same problem here, as soon as I tried to edit the permissions in Nextgen Gallery, I had to reset (once again ! ) the whole thing.

@cais : yes, it seems like it really, both S2Members and Members seem to suffer from the user role “hijacking”. Really looking forward to getting the next update.

Thanks for your test and confirmation, Stefan.

I am learning but it seems one measure of the elegance of a plugin may be the extent to which the core defaults of WordPress code, the “understood shared commons” are left in place for all other plugins to utilize…or as they say in Kindergarten, “play nice”.

With much gratitude to Cais and photocrati for this ??

@ldp-154 & @stefanp44 – We are still reviewing this part of our code but do not have any ETA at the moment for when we will be able to sort out why some membership plugins and/or other plugins that create “new” roles are causing these sorts of issues.

    – Cais.
