Nextgen Gallery issue

I just installed the nextgen gallery to see if it works better over the one the theme i tore apart was using. I like it but I have three problems I can’t figure out.

1. There appears to be a large border around the main image border making it look embossed. I looked at the styles but there is no border that I see.

2. Also on the gallery page I can’t figure out why the images are not floating left. There should be enough space for two images on each row.

3. On the main Photo page I would like to be able to have an image representing the interior pages (galleries) is it possible to have the image link to the gallery page or ad a tab above the image to link to the appropriate gallery page?
