    Hello,

Using the regular WordPress Library I am able to insert a featured image and several thumbnail images that appear just below the featured image. Because it seems difficult to edit or manage the galleries in WordPress I installed the NextGen plugin.

    1. When I go to insert a gallery the only option is to use the regular WP library. How do I access the Nextgen library for this purpose?
    2. Can I insert a Nextgen gallery with lets say 6 images with one as the featured image?
    3. DOes nextgen allow for easily editing the images in this gallery unlike the wp library?

    Thank you.

  • Well, I was hoping someone had answered you. I haven’t found a way to do it yet either, and like you, I find it near to impossible to “manage” the WP Media library. Maybe someone will find a way. I’m going to contact NextGEN too.

Thanks. I finally did get an email stating that they were too busy to respond but suggested that I update my themes as a possible solution. Then a second email asking how their customer service was doing. I will let you know. Nextgen has it’s own peculiarities but the shortcodes work. However I have not figures out how to insert a gallery below the featured image.

    1) To insert a NextGEN Gallery, the icon to add gallery is located in the text editing toolbar here, see screenshot: https://screencast.com/t/pyXSF2Z0
    2) As you found, setting a featured image works best right now through WordPress Media Library
    3) You may edit the images for your gallery under Gallery >> Manage Gallery, see screenshot: https://screencast.com/t/r5er0v26sd

    Hope that helps!
