NextGen Gallery description single quote issue

when inputting text in the title, alt text or description of a gallery image the single quote (apostrophy) character is rendered incorrectly unless input as ' however the bug-a-boo is that once changes are saved , if one needs to do additional edits to ANY of the gallery images ALL single quotes need to be re-input as '

any ideas how to rectify this problem?
