Nextgen-gallery confused on how to get started

  • I just downloaded nextgen-gallery a couple of hours ago. I am just starting to learn html, and use wordpress and I do not understand the directions.

    Step 6 in the Installation instructions says:

    6. Go to your post/page an enter the tag ‘[gallery=ID]’ or ‘[slideshow=ID]’.

    What does that mean? Where do I put it? And how do I get my galleries to show up in my posts.

    (I have created a gallery and uploaded images and the widgets work, I just cannot figure out how to put them into posts.

  • each gallery you create has an ID # such as 1 or 2 or 3 depending on how many galleries you have.

    You put the code where you want the gallery to appear.
    [gallery=2] or [slideshow=1]

    Sorry, but this will show my ignorance, but where do I put that code? In the body of the post? And is that all that I need to write or does the code look like something else?
