NextGen Gallery cannot link gallery to post

@dbemowsk – There is no current method to link a gallery to a post at this time. The option to “Link to page” is the only one we have although please feel free to send us a Feature Request here: https://imagely.com/feature-voting/ sharing your thoughts and ideas on how this might be added.

Another option that would work and would almost make it a bit more versatile would be an option to link to a URL. Linking to a page or post keeps you bound only to the current website. Linking to a URL would still allow you to link to a page or post, but would also expand those boundaries outside that website. I am assuming I would need to add a feature request for that also though.

So I submitted a vote outlining both options.

So for now I found a temporary workaround for anyone that stumbles onto this. It is a plugin called “Page Links To”. It allows you to create a page that contains an automatic redirect to a different URL. That URL can be a page on your site, or a page anywhere else on the net. Once that is created, just point your gallery to that page and the redirect will take you where you need to go.

Obviously this is a HACK solution, and a solution within the plugin would be better, but for a temporary workaround, it does the job.
