• For the past year I have used the Source Code function in TinyMCE Advanced to collect HTML for our long articles to make a local backup. Since updating WordPress to 4.0 and subsequently updating NextGEN Gallery to 2.0.66.27, this function now displays an empty dialog box instead of HTML code. It happens in the current versions of Chrome, Firefox, and IE. No errors are reported.

Disabling the NextGEN Gallery 2.0.66.27 plugin restores normal functionality to TinyMCE Advanced plugin.

@das Capitolin – We have had reports of TinyMCE Advanced causing issues with NextGEN Gallery in the past but not the reverse.

I also just installed, activated and checked the Source Code option in TinyMCE Advanced and the code is there for the posts I checked. Is it possible there is a third plugin involved in this issue creating the conflict?

I’m certain. Every other plugin was disabled except NextGEN Gallery and TinyMCE Advanced. NextGEN Gallery worked fine, but broke some functions in TinyMCE Advanced.

Unfortunately, I was never able to make NextGEN Gallery automatically incorporate the images I upload to WordPress, so it’s been removed.

@das Capitolin – Sorry to read that, but if you wanted to use the image in the Media Library you could have manually imported them under Gallery > Add Gallery / Images … Import Folder.

    Thanks!

I guess you don’t have much concern for your plugin breaking others.

You also seem to have missed the difference between me wanting to automatically incorporate images into a collection and your suggestion to manually import them.

@das Capitolin – We are definitely interested in sorting out plugin conflicts but as I noted, I am not seeing this in my testing and thus the reason I asked if there was a possible additional active plugin causing the issue.

I also understand you wanting to use the Media Library images, we simply do not have an automated import functionality available. I offered a work-around for you to consider understanding full well that it is not automated.

You are and will always be very welcome to share your thoughts and ideas on improvements and Feature Requests as well. We have a form specifically created for the community to do this here: https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/feature-voting/

I have the same issue in 4.0. I can’t edit the source code unless I deactivate the plugin. I tried using Ultimate TinyMCE with the same result.

It’s a bit of bother to deactivate the plugin before editing, but I’ll put up with it until the conflict is resolved as I need both the Gallery and also be able to edit code.

@gacb – I would recommend starting your own topic or submitting a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) with your specifics.

    Thanks!

I guys, I have come across this problem too. Nextgen gallery does seem to break WordPress 4.0’s TinyMCE.

My solution has been to use replace the default content editor with an Advanced Custom Fields editor. Not a perfect solution, but it has sufficed on this occasion.

Hope the this conflict is resolved soon…

@plainlogic – We do not have any recorded issues with the default built-in version of TinyMCE for the current release of WordPress.

If you are seeing this as an issue, please start your own topic or feel free to submit a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) for it.

    Thanks!
