next_post_link doesn't work for private posts

I have chimed in about this question before, and I have seen the question asked at different times, but all those threads have been closed, yet the topic is not resolved.
When you publish a post privately, it doesn’t work in next_post_link or previous_post_link. How do you fix this? Thanks.
