    Hi guys,

I’m sort of new here and I’ve been trying to find an answer to my question now for several weeks. I am sure it’s really easy, but I just don’t know the trick.

I use collapse-o-matic, but when I do, the next word in the sentence from the part I am collapsing starts on a new line. In the examplary page, you can see this happening in the lower sentence:

    ‘vorm’
    ‘van je bijdrage’.

    It should just be:

    ‘vorm van je bijdrage’.

Can anyone help me out? Please ??

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

There seems to be a <p> tag that WordPress is automatically inserting.
Take a look at how the shortcode is inserted while the editor is in ‘text’ mode (not Visual mode).

Take a look at this post about inline triggers:
    https://spacedonkey.de/2828/collapse-o-matic-inline-trigger-with-block-target/

If still no joy, ping us back and we’ll take a closer look at your setup.

Thank you so much for helping me out. I love this plugin ??

I looked for the <p> tag, but it’s not present in the code. I found a funny example on my website of the plugin once not working correctly and then in the next line, with the same code, working the way I want.

    Here’s the link:
    https://snakeshusband.nl/menscentraal-of-ecocentraal/

It’s the first two sententences of the article, below the cover image:

This is the code I used:
]Anthropocentrism. (z.d.). In Wikipedia. (z.d.). In Wikipedia.

It’s the same code right? But then the behavior is different.

What is also strange, is that in the first example I don’t have to use the [br] code to get a white space and in the second line of code I do.

    @twinpictures, you still there?

I have this problem also on other pages, like this one: https://snakeshusband.nl/de-standaard-ruilen-voor-milieu-en-diervriendelijk/

I’ve tried several things, like using a hyperlink in the collapsed area or using different types of interpunction. I can’t seem to figure out what is different in one line of code from the other.

    Again:

Take a look at how the shortcode is inserted while the editor is in ‘text’ mode (not Visual mode).

If it works on some page and not on others, then you’ll need to troubleshoot what the issue is. If you would like us to do this on your behalf, you might consider upgrading to Collapse-Pro-Matic, as it comes with a very high level of personal support.

We cannot assist you further without seeing exactly how the shortcode is being used on the different pages.

This is the code I inserted in a previous message, but then in text mode. This comes from the link: https://snakeshusband.nl/menscentraal-of-ecocentraal/.

The first time that I use the code, it breaks off and starts on a next line. The next time I use it, the sentence just continues. As far as I can see, there is really no difference between the lines of code. I would consider personal support, but isn’t this a bug?

it’s not a bug, there is something that is not being pasted correctly, or pasted while NOT in text mode.

When you paste code here in the form, please wrap it in code tags, as the formatting confuses the situation.

    Do this:
Paste the following on each of the pages:

[expand title="trigger"]this is the hidden content[/expand]

    Do they both work correctly?

    any update on this?

I followed your advice, but no luck. I have been troubleshooting for about 5 hours in total now and still no clue. For clarification: this phenomenon happens on one single page. With two lines of exactly the same code that I build in the text mode I get two completely different results. I really don’t see the difference. Do you?

I tried everything I could think of:

    1. Typed the text from start in the text mode.
    2. Stripped the text from all sorts of variations (italics, bold, hyperlinks)
    3. Changed position on the page
    4. Tried serveral browsers
    5. Changed interpunction with letters
    6. Creating a new page and see if the phenomenon occurs there

I just discovered something that might be a lead…

I added another line of text all the way at the bottom of the article and then, for experimentation, I copy-pasted the same line of text, but then without ennumeration. The funny thing is that with ennumeration, the text continues like I want to. Without ennumeration, the text following the collapsible area starts on a new line:

    WHAT I WANT

    WHAT I DON’T WANT

Is there anyone here that can help me out?

If I can’t get these collapsible areas to work properly, I unfortunately would have to switch to a different plugin. I don’t want to do that, so I wish for my saving angel ??

So, the funny thing is, as soon as I put the text between < ul> < /ul>, the code works properly…
