• Hi Photocrati..
My WordPress up to date version 3.6
My NextGEN up to date version 2.07

MySQL up to date version 5.0.96-log
PHP up to date version 5.2.17
    The mod_rewrite Apache module activated
    PHP Safe Mode OFF

Additional information that will help us find a solution:
    I am hosted with GoDaddy
I am running the Simplicity Theme in Woothemes
    I have no plugins installed

The problem I am having is with the multisite function. The gallery will not appear and I have no idea how to fix this problem. Can someone photocrati help with this. I am considering buying the upgraded version if I was given the proper support.

    Thank you

  • We are not photocrati bods but have seen issues with 2.0.7 and 2.0.10 and Network WP 3.6. We went back to NGG 1.9.13 and all is back and operational.

The same errors have been coming up on various sites and installs for us and others around the net, but there appears to be no fix in view yet.

We will keep trying the betas, but it seems a general issue. If it doesn’t play nicely with other critical plugins these days there are other solutions for most of what we use Nextgen for but we would like to retain it as an option if possible.

The only solution we read of was resetting and removing/installing the plugin and starting again. That would suggest a DB upgrade problem moving from 1.9 to 2.0 but not heard that discussed anywhere else. Also the odd placement of the NGG styles in the root of the wp-plugin directory seems potentially a little odd for a network install of WP as sub sites cannot then have their own child version of the CSS unless I have misread that.

Editing and changing all our sites that use it would be a time consuming task but at some point soon we will need to decide whether to bite the bullet.

Do update if you find a solution!

@facelt: A few thoughts/questions. We’ve seen several reports of this. To be honest, we’re somewhat surprised because 1.9.13 wasn’t actually multisite compatible. You should have been having a range of problems using 1.9.13 on sub-blogs. It sounds like you had it working.

My first question is with 2.0, are you having issue on the main installation or on sub-blogs? If it’s on sub-blogs, I actually think your best bet is to roll back to 1.9.13 if you had that working.

    https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/

I’d do that and then hold until you get confirmation that 2.0 is fully multisite compatible. That’s very high priority for us, but we need to get through the current slate of issues before we get to it.

@donty: same thing for in your case assuming you are on multisite. Since you’re rolled back and working just fine, I would hold on upgrading for a while, and specifically look for when we specifically say an upgrade is multisite compatible. Otherwise, if you have it working with 1.9.13, I’d recommend staying with that version for now.

Just a note to let you know that I never had the 1.9.13 installed. This was a first time install to the latest version of NextGen so I have no idea if it works on the prvious version but if it does how can I down grade to the old version and give it a go.

I have tried un-installing it and resetting it but it does not seem to have made any difference. I also wanted to upgrade to the paid version.. will that make any difference at all..?

    Thanks

@faceit: No the pro version won’t help you as far as multisite is concerned. Multisite compatibility is coming soon, so you’ll just need to hold for that. Thanks.

I am making a site for a client and have a delivery date.
Do you have any idea when you are expecting to solve this issue with the gallery?
    Thanks

    Hi guys,

I don’t remember if the pre 2.0 versions (before Photocrati) claimed multisite support or not but it worked quite well.

A majority of my client sites are multisite instals because, IMO, it’s still the easiest and cleanest way to do multilingual in WordPress and most of my sites are at least bilingual.

I also have it working perfectly (1.9.13) on an 85 sites multisite network for a large local artist-painters association. NextGen is even installed network-wide and not per site.

It’s loading the galleries from each site correctly (and not the main site’s everywhere like 2.0.x) and it just works.

I’m surprised multisite wasn’t a priority because, it’s not a separate thing from WordPress since version 3.0. Multisite is part of WordPress core now so if you claim to support WordPress 3.x, to me that means multisite should at least work on a basic level (meaning work on individual sites properly, doesn’t need to be network-aware, just work on individual sites as it always has).

Right now it’s completely broken and not only doesn’t it load galleries from the actual site I’m on and just the main site’s, the primary options page is broken (shows no labels) and new in 2.0.11, the add gallery button is gone from TinyMCE on individual sites.

So in short, I would also like very much to know when multisite support is plan and push for getting it much higher in your priorities. It’s the right thing to do. For now I’m stuck with dozens of client sites using NetxGen that I can’t upgrade.

    Thanks

Only 1.9.13 and prior is working on multisite installation and all of their sites! Starting with 2.x only the root site is working. I’m already looking for alternatives to NextGEN. What a shame … bad thing that Alex sold it!

    @photocrati

How can I downgrade my NextGen install to 1.9.13..?
Please bear in mind I did not upgrade my nextgen gallery. This was a fresh install to the current version.. so it will not be a case of rolling it back which is what I was told but I have nothing to roll back to.
If anyone can help me I would appreciate it..!

    Thanks
