@glaroc – We believed to have sorted out all of the conflicts between NextGEN Gallery and WPML … is it possible there is a different conflict at hand here?

It is definitely a problem with the NextGEN and some of the translating features in WordPress because when I deactivate NextGEN it fixes the problem. I don’t know where to start looking for a solution for this…

@glaroc – Did you check by deactivating *all* plugins then reactivating NextGEN Gallery (first) and WPML only to test the translation issue?

    – Cais.

    Hi,

I have the same problem, when I use WPML with

      languages in directories

. (WPML + NGG with languages in domains is okay.)

A switch to foreign-language of homepage (top-page) reload the homepage in original language.
In subpages the switch is okay.
Without NGG is also the switch oft homepage (top-page) okay.

@elkok – I’m not certain I understand entirely but it seems this may have to do with how you set up WPML that is creating this issue, would that be correct?

    – Cais.

    Hi Cais,

yes, the problem is depending from use of WPML.
    When NGG is activated:
    Languages via domains/subdomains is okay.
Languages via directories, there is the problem with the top page.
When all plugins are activated without NGG it works fine.
(When I use WPML with language via domains, then I have few small problemes with other plugins, f.e. WP Google Maps – why WPML there is not supported.
Therefore I must use WPML with langugages via directories. )

    Greetings

    Hello,

I can confirm that I have found the same conflict. All plugins updated, all checked, and WPML translated homepage link in menu bar only works when NextGen Gallery is deactivated. There is a conflict so please I would like plugin authors to inform us on what to do with this issue?

Ok, it turns out that in this file:

    wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/third_party_compat/module.third_party_compat.php

line 86 is causing the problem…

    add_filter(‘home_url’, array(&$this, ‘wpml_home_url’), -1, 4);

If you commment this out, it now works. I hope NextGEN will fix this in the next release…

    Hi,

… great. It works fine. Many thanks.

@glaroc – Thanks for this work-around. I have written this up for our developers to review (and address) for our next release.

@elkok – I’m glad this worked for you, too!

@dnpropeller – Feel free to try the suggestion here, but if it doesn’t work I would recommend reverting your changes and starting your own topic to go forward with as your issue would be different from the OP.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

    Hi,

sorry, I think there is a new problem now.
When I stay in a foreign language and I call an other page in this foreign language, then I get this page in the home language.
Normaly WPML call for each page_id the current langugage.
After the change above, I must replace all links in pages with foreign languages (> 1000)
    ??

@elkok – Thanks for the observation … there are quite a few calls to various filters to be more compatible with WPML, your change may not be complete but as to the actual extent of changes needed I cannot say.

    – Cais.

… this fall back to the home language is only, when I call a link from a foreign language top-page. In subpages it looks okay.

@elkok – I’ll emphasize the developers should read over this topic as well as the specific notes I have left. If you want to send us a Bug Report (https://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) for your site as well please feel free to do so … it may even help if we are not able to reproduce the issue ourselves.

In that case, we would likely need log in (and FTP) credentials for your WordPress installation, please include those with your Bug Report if you send one.

    Thanks!

    – Cais.

Thank you, that solution of removing that line solved my problem too. Please do fix this in in your next update. Thanks for help and solution! These are both great plugins, it will be great when they stop having conflicts ??
