• I’ve been doing some testing.

By superimposing the image with the title, the excerpt, and the author, the excerpt remains in black making it impossible to read it. The other elements i.e. title, author and date remain white.

Depending on the theme, there are also drawbacks with the feature image layout.

The scales 1, 2 and 3 that allow you to adjust the size of the font remain almost the same without further change between them. This causes a sudden and abrupt change in the scale 4.

    To Reproduce
    Steps to reproduce the behavior:

    1. Go to Hompage Block’
    2. Click on ‘Grild’. Select two columns.
    3. Click on ‘Show media behind’.
    4. Click on “Save” and “Preview”

    Then,

    1. Scroll down to ‘Scale’
    2. Select Scale 1, 2, 3 and 4 and save your changes each time, and see “preview”.

    Expected behavior
The excerpt should be in white. Or at least, have the option to selec #fff as a color. In fact, this option exists, but when selected, nothing happens. @kgagne

P.S: It was my intention to share the code of said block, but it was not possible to do it and preserve the privacy of the website link that belongs to a client.

Errata: I forgot to say that in addition to “Expected behavior“, that a more noticeable and gradual change, mostly gradual between scales 1, 2, 3 and 4 is expected also.

Please, notify if these bugs are due to a possible failure due to the interaction of another plugin, or if Newspack Block requires the installation of another plugin for it to work correctly. Jetpack, is already installed.

The ‘Blog posts’ block on WordPress.com is provided by this plugin. At this point, this plugin doesn’t seem to be working on self-hosted WordPress sites, and seems to be WordPress.com-specific.

As an alternative, I would explore an alternative Post loops/layout plugin. Below are a couple of suggestions (please note that these plugins work with the block editor)

I understand what you’re saying. The funny thing is that in this same forum, someone who said he participated in the development of Newspack Blocks recommended it to me. That causes me confusion. I guess this means that the plugin can be downloaded by those who want some extra effects and have their site hosted on wordpress.com.

I’ll check the plugins you mentioned and I’ll give you my feedback shortly.
    Thank you!!

Should I be worried that one of those plugins will eventually stop working? I mean, does it stop updating and fall into disrepair? Are there any developed by a company associated with Automattic that can be trusted to continue to exist over time?

Automattic is generally a reliable company — I’m personally sponsored by them to contribute on the WordPress community.

Still, it’s all open source, so you can just do whatever you want with it in case they stop maintaining it.
