Newsletters with mailpoet 3

Are these auto-newsletters sending out the latest weekly posts or simply the last 3 posts ever created over and over again? If I don’t add a post each week will the auto/newsletter just continue to send out the same old posts or will it do nothing if there is no new content each week to send? Thx
