[newsletter:post_title] doesn’t strip out html formatting?

    Hi — we use mailpoet to send an “automatic latest content” newsletter and use the [newsletter:post_title] short code for our email subject. Some of our post titles include TV show titles in them, which are denoted on-site with italics. I don’t expect the styling to be carried over to the email the subject line, but right now the em tags are displaying. See attached screenshot.

    Is there a way to automatically strip out html formatting like this when using this short code?

    Just following up on this. FWIW, I noticed that another user encountered a similar problem when using the <strong> style tag in post titles last year and it was fixed:

    Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for your excellent research here. Looking at our internal system, it doesn’t look like this issue was fully resolved by the development team, as it still shows as an active and open issue.

    Our development team have confirmed that this issue was not previously fixed, so not sure about the update on that other thread but we expect it to still be an issue.

    We have bumped it up in priority. While we still don’t have a firm ETA for this fix, based on other items around the same level we’d expect it to be fixed in about 4-5 weeks from now.

    Please continue to monitor the release notes for MailPoet for additional information of the fix as our policy is not to continue to update forum threads with ongoing bug fix information.
