    Hi,

    I am trying newsletter to send mails but it always tries to use smtp no matter what.

    I need the smtp option off … is there a way to truly set it off?

    If the SMTP panel is disabled the plugin does nor send via SMTP but using the WordPress mailing function. Are you sure you have not a plugin that forces WP to use and SMTP?

    No I do not have any other plugin.

    In fact the plugin does send test mails .. but does not send with the smtp options, I have tried gmail settings instead the ones for my server.

    It does not work at all in the smtp settings. Every conceivable settings.. it won’t send any , it always shows an error log.

    Al things on my site and server work properly, all notifications, every thing but this plugin.

    Please ket me know if there is anything I can do.

    So, you’re testing the SMTP settings? What error did you get from the SMTP panel?

    Hi,

    It’s a shame I can not use this plugin, The interface and html editing is great, but there is no way I can get it to send newsletters.

    2017-10-11 15:37:49 Connection: opening to relay-hosting.secureserver.ne:25, timeout=300, options=array (
    )
    2017-10-11 15:37:49 Connection: Failed to connect to server. Error number 2. “Error notice: stream_socket_client(): php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known
    2017-10-11 15:37:49 Connection: Failed to connect to server. Error number 2. “Error notice: stream_socket_client(): unable to connect to relay-hosting.secureserver.ne:25 (php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name or service not known)

    Hope you can help .. I have tried other newsletter plugins and they send no problem.

    Hi, the host is wrong it is missing the ending “t”:

    relay-hosting.secureserver.ne

    and I image you’re on godaddy, you cannot use any other SMTP than their own.

    Yeah this time I missed it some how .. but it won’t work anyway … this is the new error …

    2017-10-11 15:49:04 Connection: opening to relay-hosting.secureserver.net:25, timeout=300, options=array (
    )
    2017-10-11 15:49:05 Connection: Failed to connect to server. Error number 2. “Error notice: stream_socket_client(): unable to connect to relay-hosting.secureserver.net:25 (Connection refused)

    2017-10-11 15:49:05 SMTP connect() failed. https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer/wiki/Troubleshooting

    Just one last question .. am I supposed to use or not smtp for this server?

    I have tried smtp gmail server to no avail either

    Sorry, but who is your provider? The smtp configuration you’re using are for godaddy hosted sites. You’re not require to setup an smtp connection if your server is able to send emails.

    there is this table on my database
    844
    mailer
    smtp

    should I change the smtp value for other?

    Plugin Author Stefano Lissa

    (@satollo)

    Sorry I cannot understand the connection between database tables and an SMTP server which is a service a provider can give you.

    I think it’s better if yuo disable the SMTP settings and test the email sneding from the status panel.

    Hi again.

    Just wanted to say it is sad for me not to be able to use this great plugin, as it never resolves the connection.

    Every other plugin I have tried doesn’t behave like this as they make the connection no problem with the wordpress mailer, or any smtp settings for different servers.

    I hope this can be resolved in a future update.

    Hi, the smtp connection is rather a standard process and every plugin uses the SMTP library of WordPress, so there is probably a problem on the settings.

    Try to send me screen shot of the setting is use on another plugin and the ones of Newsletter. Or you can use a smtp plugin for wordpress and disable the Newsletter smtp, Newsletter will use the standard wordpress mailing function which will be managed by the smtp plugin.

    Stefano.
