  • Hi, you need to switch the default language of your site to Marathi on your Settings > General admin page. This will not only change the language tags in your news sitemap but also the language tag in your public HTML source code.

Currently, that tag says <html lang="en-US"> which is very bad for SEO.

If you wish to keep your admin language in English, you can do this from your personal Profile page.

Thanks RavanH from the prompt response and highlighting the en-US issue. I did change the general admin language to Marathi. However, html lang=”en-US” is still visible.

Actually I am running both your plugin as well as yoast and that part is being displayed only when I enable Yoast plugin. Is it that xml sitemap can handle automatically (if I disable yoast) or shall I change it via Theme editor?

Another query I had was that the keywords are still not being pushed in XML. Can you please help with that.

Thanks a ton for the wonderful plugin and amazing support.

Hi, in your pages source code I now see <html lang="mr-IN"> which is perfect ??

Keywords are only available in the advanced extension, I’m afraid…

    Hi Ravan!

I’m having a similar issue. My site is already set to my language, “pt-BR”, but it shows only “pt” at News Sitemap. Any idea what I did wrong?

    Thanks!

Hi @faustogabiou you did nothing wrong. The “pt” tag is exactly what is needed for Google News. Like the OP has “mr-IN” in his source code while “mr” is used in the news sitemap…

Then it’s all set! Thanks for your quick support, Ravan. Have a nice day! ??
