News Ticker causes page to freeze when combined with a popup

    Hello! I recently activated the News Ticker widget and after placing it on a page, the page freezes up and no longer allows scrolling. After tinkering a bit I realized it was happening because of a modal popup (created with PopUp Maker) that was set on the page to appear after 1500ms. What’s odd is that the modal overlay doesn’t appear at all, it’s like it’s invisible. I thought it might be a z-index issue but that’s not it. Can the ticker be used on a page with a modal popup or are the two incompatible with each other? Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Hi there,

    I have checked your page and I believe that this has nothing to do with the News Ticker widget, but this CSS class added to the <html> tag of your page. It hides any overflowing content on your page.

    I don’t think so, because the same CSS class is also on the html tag of the homepage, where the modal popup does appear correctly. If I were to add the ticker widget to that page, the popup no longer appears. (As replicated on the test page.)

    Hi @pessimisticoptimist,

    I totally believe that there is nothing in the News Ticker widget that can cause this. I suggest contacting the support team of the plugin used to create the popup so they can check why the CSS class “pum-open” is added by default on your test page.

    On your screenshot, this class is added only when the popup is visible, but on the test page, it is showing once the page is loaded. This needs to be checked from their side.

    I was able to find a different plugin that has a ticker widget that works with the popup.
