    Post types don’t belong in themes. Plus, they’re not even allowed in themes on www.remarpro.com (other than in very special circumstances).

    no ability to support comments on the home page

    It’s very possible to do this, but it’s not a standard theme feature. I can count on one hand the number of themes I’ve ever seen for WordPress that does this out of the box.

    bloated layout

    I agree, but it seems to be what some folks are looking for in this type of theme.
