    Hi!

I have a website on aaa.com main domain. It’s built mainly on pages, posts are used to represent news.
I created bbb.aaa.com subdomain (same server) and built a new website there. This new website should replace the old one (aaa.com). Old site can be erased, if necessary, the only thing I need is to preserve news. Meaning that there should be an “Old News” or “News Archive” button on new website, which leads to (all of the) news on old website.

Can you please let me know how can this be achieved, thank you so much.

    Best regards.

  • Use the Dashboard/Tools/Export to download your news posts from your old site, then Tools/Import your news posts to your new site. Then add the appropriate link to your navigation bar (Appearance/Menus)

Hi, here’s how it went: I exported posts and gallery media from the old site and imported it to the new one, gallery media is stored to Portfolio. Posts with external links are shown beautifully. Posts with internal shortcodes and paths, on the other hand, are not, extra work is required there to adjust paths, shortcodes, upload necessary media … I suppose this is how it’s meant to be.

Thank you so much for the tip, Alyson, you are wonderful.

Sweet! I’m glad you figured out how to make the transition. Thanks for letting me know.
