• Ia€?ve installed two new themes per published instructions. However, when I go to the “Presentation” section, only the two originally installed themes show. Any ideas? I saw one other post similar to this, but she fixed it on her own and Ia€?m not exactly sure how it was done.

    Thank you,
    Patricia

    LOL, I read that post!

So next step is to check out permissions in sub level folder? I’ve already emailed my tech people on this a few days ago. Still no response. I think they’re confused. They have just installed this on the server I have, but they’ve had it on other servers. I’ve asked them to see if they’ve encountered this problem before.

Anyway, what is an example of a sub-level folder?

    I’m a 10. but only as a user :O)

Well, you said you’d checked that the jakarta theme was in its own folder under themes. Just want to reverify the path: should be https://www.chaoticgestalt.net/WordPress/wp-content/themes/jakarta/
and inside the jakarta folder you should see an images folder and 14 files ending in .php plus a .js file and style.css.

And the permissions on the jakarta folder shoud be 755, or rwx rx rx.

*laughing* BTW – I’m quite interested in what I read of your posts while I was there….

Best security system around. I’ll re-check the jakarta folder. I think it was 755/rwx rx rx.

    Yup 755.

Hey, Your friends host wouldn’t be iPower would it?

No…. was GoDaddy, but she moved to my own host after all the problems!

Just for arguments’ sakes, change the permissions to 777 or rwx rwx rwx to see if that forces it to show in Presentation.

    Changed and no change.

    Also, I checked the path
    https://www.chaoticgestalt.net / wordpress / wp-admin / wp-content / themes/jakarta

looks like a file is added (wp-admin), but I think that’s the way its supposed to be. Am I incorrect?

    (@patriciamckenna)

btw how was the 80 mile round trip?

Nope. The path needs to be just as I listed it. The wp-content folder isn’t inside the wp-admin folder for some reason, is it?

    Thread Starter patriciamckenna

    (@patriciamckenna)

errrr…. I’m thinking it is. Let me check, and if it is, I’ll change it.

80-mile round trip: long, hot, boring. Hit every store in town, in preparation for a 3 week vacation beginning Wednesday.

Try to only do that sort of trip/shopping once a month – living “out” is great except for that sort of inevitability.

Your wordpress folder needs to have directly inside it the following folders: wp-admin; wp-content; wp-images; wp-includes; and then a bunch of .php files.

I think I ‘may’ know what’s wrong. Not sure. If I’m right, I’m a complete idiot. Stay tuned. It may take an hour or so. I’m actually going to delete the folders and see if the site goes down. If not…

What I think happened is that I tried to install WP myself, and those files are still on my server. I may <giggle> have put the files in those folders. If I did, I’m going to be laughing to hard at myself to type. I’ll get back to you.
