Newly added stores not showing up in search results

  • I’ve been adding store locations regularly and recently tried checking some, discovering that they don’t appear in the search results.

    For example, I just added Ralph Store #728 for zip code 90505. When i search for 90505, the store does not appear, though it does show as published in the Store Locator settings listing.

    Older store locations are still appearing but i dont know from which update date that it fails to display.

    If you click on ‘show response’ on the WPSL settings page, does it show any errors?

    If you search for the street + city name, does it then show up? Zip code only searches can be unreliable since the zip codes are just a random string of letters and numbers for the Geocode API and could be located anywhere in the world.

    You can try to set the map region on the WPSL settings page, and also optionally enable the’ zip code only searches’ option.

    – I had an error on the browser key so I fixed that, but the issue persists.
    – I typed the street and city name, but no results.
    – I tried “zip code only” option but still no result
    – The locations I’m looking for are showing as published but not displaying in search results.

    What are you searching for exactly? If I search for ‘Los Angeles CA’, then it does show results.

    Increasing the search radius doesn’t fix it?

    Just to test the results, I’ve been searching for Zip Code 90505 and Torrance, CA to see if the Ralphs #728 location would show up, but it does not. I also did a search for Kona, HI to see if any of the stores show up there (0 results).

    I initially had search radius set to 100 miles but that didnt help either.

    I found a fix but it’s a frustrating one.

    After I opened up the Ralphs store location and pressed “Update” (without any actual updates” it pushed the location to appear in the search results. A Quick Edit update push for another location did not produce the same result. Only Update from the Edit Store page seems to activate the location to appear in the search results.

    Any ideas what might be the cause? Incidentally, all of the locations do all start as “Pending” even though I press “Publish” when first adding a location, and then i need to manually change to Published in Quick Edit.

    If the stores you created previously are all set to pending, then there was an issue with the server api key, which if no more errors show up on the settings page when you click on ‘show response’ has been resolved now.

    When you create a new store, it then does get published, or does it still go to pending?

    Ah yes, it went straight to published. Thank you for your help in figuring this out!
