Newbie With XML Importing Problems/Setup

Hi, I just recently switched my free WP blog over to a self-hosted blog and I’m using the Techozoic Fluid theme. I’m splitting the XML file up month by month, because it’s apparently too large for WP to upload on its own (even though its only 5MB), but the titles/permalinks for each post have disappeared, even though they’re in the actually pages in my dashboard. I’m also having a problem with every single page appearing on my tool bar and would like to simply limit those links to different sections of my site. All of the different pages have now messed up my alignment and I’d just like to remove the links from the top, not the pages altogether. I’d also like to know how to get my titles/permalinks to appear again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
