• Because I have little idea about what I am doing I pasted a blog promotion id in front of Doc Type. I try to get into my admin page and I get a few lines telling me where this blog promotion is, but I can’t get into admin to enter HTML to take it out. The validation reads as follows — you can see the problem in line 1 column 1 — how do I get in there to take it out?

    # Error Line 1, Column 1: no document type declaration; will parse without validation

The document type could not be determined, because the document had no correct DOCTYPE declaration. The document does not look like HTML, therefore automatic fallback could not be performed, and the document was only checked against basic markup syntax.

Learn how to add a doctype to your document from our FAQ, or use the validator’s Document Type option to validate your document against a specific Document Type.
    # Error Line 1, Column 104: “DOCTYPE” declaration not allowed in instance

…og and Blog resource Directory<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.

  • you have to post code in between backtics on the forum or it doesn’t display properly

Yeah, that was a real helpful response :-/

Anyway, if you’re still having this issue and the code you added was via the “Editor” section in the admin area (under Appearance) then you can edit that file directly by either FTP’ing to your hosting account or logging into their web interface.

Once you’ve did that head to the directory of your wordpress installation (if it’s not in the root/top level directory) and open wp-content > themes and then on the folder of the theme you’re using. Once in there you should see all the available files to edit, simply find the one you added the code to and remove the code, save the file then you should be able to login to the admin area…
