  • Where exactly did you get your WP files from ?

Have you tried deleting everything from the server, downloading WP from here and using that (NOT overwriting, deleting first) ?

I downloaded the tarball about a month ago, but could not recall from where exactly.
So, I have deleted everything, downloaded the gzipped tarball from this site, and began the prosess all over again as detailed in the readme file.

    The result is the same.

BTW, the browser is Mozilla Firefox under FC4 Linux.

Very very strange…..have you cleared the browser cache and tried again ? Tried another browser ? Asked someone else to try ?
It can’t be the code from what I can see else Matt’s post would be swamped daily ??

Is there any redirects setup in your server? Maybe a wrong IP/URL? What version of WP? Any plugins installed? Any other files on the server?

Sorry for all the questions to your question… just trying to figure out what happened.

Right now, this server is a standby unit. My firewall/router points http requests to my primary server, so my testing of WordPress thus far has been simply pointing the local browser directly at the wp directory (as specified by httpd.conf). “https://wp-admin/install.php”

No redirects, no plugins, no other files in that directory.

That url does indeed redirect to Matt’s site.

Your url should be https://localhost/wp-admin/install.php, assuming your webserver has your wordpress folder set as its root.

The redirect is Firefox being “clever” in trying to interpet an invalid address.

    FireFox is great!

So says the guy getting the redirect traffic! LOL!
