I’m a complete newbie so please forgive me…I hope I explain this correctly.

I’m trying to set up my very first website with a blog attached. Since downloading version 3.4 and changing my Theme to Typominimia my website has the following code displayed in the top left hand corner of every page:

    ” />

I have tried editing the header section but cannot seem to get rid of it? Any tips from anyone please?

Secondly, I am wanting to run my blog from one of the pages in my menu. I want that page to be a ‘welcome to my blog’, a kind of front static page, and then for the actual blog posts to be posted to a sub-page of this welcome page…how do I do this please?

To see my site, the link is:

    Thanks in advance!

  • The characters " /> are remnants of editing your theme. Either revert to the default theme or upload a fresh copy of your theme. It may perhaps go away. You can set the static page from your dashboard. Try it. If you cannot please report back.

    Hi Krishna,

Thanks for your quick reply. Which is the best way to revert to then default them….just through the dashboard?

I know how to set a static pages, but I’m really not sure how to add a sub-page to it.

The URL so you can have a closer look is

Yes, you can select TwentyEleven and activate through your dashboard. If it does not remove the orphan characters, deactivate your plugins one by one and try. If you fail to get the characters removed, it is coming from your current theme files. Try these things and report back.

Deactivating the theme and installing TwentyEleven didn’t do it, but having gone through each of the plug-ins, it appears to be solved, thank you! The one causing the problem was the ‘All In One Webmaster’ plug-in.

    Thanks for your help, Krishna.

Can anyone give me a simple way to add a sub-page for the blog posts to run on, so that it is located under the blog home page, ‘A Room with my Views’, please?

Go to Dashboard > Reading > where you will find Front page displays. Select static page and set your Front page (Home) and posts page (Blog).

    Marking as resolved.

You are welcome. I had a look at your site and I like it. Happy blogging with WordPress.
