• Hello I am a total amateur but thought I had managed to follow all the steps to install WP on my host Cpanel.
In CPanel I set up a database, user, emails, installed WP from the CPanel ‘quick software installs’, edited the config file with what I am pretty sure are the correct details….
and then when I go to the candiceluper.com/wp-admin page I just keep getting the error message.

How do I check the password? I’m wondering if one of the letters is capital or not.
    Should I start again?
Could it be something to do with my domain which has only today had the name-servers changed (by someone else)

Please try not t be toooo techy in your answers. I’m a quick learner but this is just my second day on wordpress.
    Thanks

  • The issue most likely has to do with making sure you’ve properly filled out your config.php file. Meaning making sure (as the system reported):

    1. Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    2. Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    3. Are you sure that the database server is running?

Being that you are brand new at this might I suggest you call your hosting provider and let them walk you through the steps required to test out your database (not WordPress!) username and password as well as the host name and whether or not your database server is properly setup and running.

    Hope this helps!

if its the SQL database username- yes is entered correctly
SQL user password – I just changed it and added new one in to make sure
    hostname – localsomething…left as is

is it anything to do with my domain, maybe not having the nameservers changed yet?

Be sure your hostname is correct. That is, localhost doesn’t always work for every host out there. Sometimes, such as when using Go Daddy as a host, one has to use an actual hostname.

As for your domain question, my guess is, being that even I am able to reproduce your issue, all is good with the name server change over. But, yes, that can cause all kinds of weirdness if not completed.

Have you actually succeeded in running the install? That is, when you go to https://candiceluper.com, are you getting prompted to install WordPress?
