Hi, I am not happy with the way my WordPress Dashboard looks since its been updated. I prefer the regular setting. Now I find it very constricted and confusing. How can I replace this setting with the previous one, or is this just a temporary glitch??

  • Since we have no way to see your dashboard, we can’t tell if it’s the way it’s supposed to look or not.

However, barring any technical difficulties, what you see is the way it is. You can’t go back to the way it was before.

Certain things can be modified, through plugins. But we can’t recommenend any specific plugins without knowing what you don’t like.

    Hi Rev,

Thank you for getting back to me, but basically something has happened to my dashboard that I can’t even type a post.

Yesterday everything was as it always was, very clear areas to post and with buttons to click for New Posts etc. and now it is just text on the left side of the page, very cramped.

It’s hard to explain but something is wrong, and as I am trying to make money from my blog, this is rather inconvenient.

I believe this is a technical difficulty. Is there anything I can do? Can I un-update the last WordPress update?

    Hi Rev again,

I am so sorry to bug you, I know you’re volunteering but I hope someone could help me with fixing my Dashboard. I am not a computer wiz, so just have no idea what happened with my admin screen… yesterday it used to look like this:

as the regular Dashboard screen, but now it looks like the what I have pasted below. It must be something wrong technically because it is just text, none of the regular Dashboard features.

Can someone please help me fix the admin screen?

This is a direct copy/paste of what it looks like, no design, no buttons, nothin’:

OK, that’s a better explanation! So, did the problem pretty much happen right after you did something? Like did you update WP and it went wonky, or update a plugin, or something?

It may be that after upgrading WP you have a plugin conflict.

The best way to test that is to deactivate all of your plugins.

If you can’t navigate through the wp admin to do so, you can do it by FTP. You log in to ftp, or a file manager if your host offers one, and you navigate to the wp-content folder and rename the plugins (to something like pluginsOLD)

once that is done, when you log on to WP, all of your plugins will automatically turn off.

After doing this you can then rename that folder back to plugins, and through the wp admin interface turn the plugins back on one by one to find the culprit

Thank you! I deactivated all the plugins and something happened… don’t know what, but it’s back to normal.. mucho gracias senior!!

Sure thing! IN the future, if something goes wonky on your install, the very first things to test normally are to deactivate all plugins, and switch to whatever the default WP theme is (Currently 2011).

These 2 steps help you narrow down any possible conflicts

Glad you got your problem sorted out!
