• Hi,

I am in the process of creating a membership site that would feature thousands of pages of arts integration curriculum for teachers. I envision a free side of the site that is filled with articles, and a forum and a paid side where teachers could pay to access the curriculum content.

I’d like to be able to e-mail my members occasionally. I’ve been reading all about memberwing, but for the life of me, I can’t figure out if this plug-in will do the job. I’m trying to avoid high cost member site software or the complicated dreamweaver/template route.

Is wordpress a viable solution for my needs?

Thousands of pages of organized curriculum (paid side)they need to print out exactly as written-pdfs would be ideal.
    Articles, forum (free side)
    Ability to email members

    Thanks!

    Janea

  • wordpress can do all of this but you will need at least 4 or 5 diferent plugins.

just search on the plugins directory. They are all there.

I recommend this phpmembers.com. It can do everything you mentioned.

There is a great blog that describes how to make wordpress a membership site and the different plugins (free and paid) that you can use for you various needs.

    Here is the link: webbriefcase.net/2009-04/building-a-membership-site-with-wordpress/

    Janea,

There is a great manual that shows how all of the different components to a wordpress membership site come together. Its free and its really good. Its what I used to get started. check it out here :

One of my friend asked me to make a membership site where users can upload their content for other users or guests. Uploaded content are ppt, pdf, doc etc. I want to know is there any plugin or hack code by using that I can differentiate between registered user and guest so the download links will be visible to registered user only not to guest.

    Sample hack
<!— download link for registered user—>
    Download Ppt
<!— this area is for only registered users.—>
It will be better if it can be ignored by GoogleBot and search engines.

We have a club with a WordPress site. Does anyone know of a WordPress plug-in that also provides other database features? We have a club that everyone is asked to contribute $x and then as they engage in an event, their account is drawn down by $x per event. We want the member to be able to see their account activity so that they contact us if they see any issues.

    Thanks in advance.

May I also suggest taking a peek at the Your Member plugin for the membership payment / management and access control? As to sending out segmented emails, that shouldn’t be too hard to get that going with a plugin, arguably with the help of Subscribe2 or similar; as said before, mix and match several plugins to get exactly the functionality you want / need.

MemberWing (https://www.memberwing.com/) is an excellent choice. I haven’t found anything better yet.

I’m also creating a website that shows people how to build membership websites that do just what you’ve said, all on top of wordpress. For ease of setup and publishing it’s hard to beat WordPress:
