I am using the plugin to redirect URLs attached to a custom post type for external web sites.

The trouble I have is to get those open in a new window.
I have set JQuery on in global options as well as on each individual post.

    Here are 2 occurrences:
    – on the “boite à outils” section of this page, , built with Elementor Pro post grid.
(my initial need for your plugin was that this widget does not provide an option for new windows target)
    – but it does not open a new window neither on normal WP archive template here:[ redundant link removed ]

The strange thing is: It worked before I think (although I had to open a new session to see that happen), and now it does not.
I wonder if it is a natural limitation of the plugin (as stated in its description), or if it should work and what I could check.

    Any help appreciated.

[ Please do not bump. ]

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

The weired thing is: I sometimes manage to get it work, and then not, and then again…
I noticed this after desactivating the plugin, reactivating it, changing general settings and then specific ones, setting as draft and publishing again… But nothing systematically seems to be working, I really wonder. Seems some cache may be involved, but even with a private window I sometimes have these issues.
I don’t feel very secuire to use this like that, and would prefer to find out.

It seems the problem comes from the option”Rewrite ALL Redirects URLs to Show in LINK?”.
When I disable it, and then change something, the links do open in a new window as expected.
It seems like this option messes up the cache or I dont know…

@agneslesagegmailcom, I apologize for the delay. Been a little swamped with the day job.

I have time set aside for this afternoon to devote to troubleshooting the issues everyone’s brought up, so I will be doing that, and hopefully continuing development of v2 today.

@agneslesagegmailcom, I hesitate to recommend using this plugin with any “WYSIWYG” type plugins.

I also know that some sites with caching do have issues with this plugin, which is one of the changes I had to make when I deployed 1.0.1. I’ve received additional reports from others relating to caching issues, as well.

Have you done extensive testing with the “Rewrite ALL Redirects URLs to Show in LINK?” option unchecked?

The New Window also does not work on this page: https://www.ghisleni.ch/home/medien2/
I tried with disabling the ”Rewrite ALL Redirects URLs to Show in LINK?” but this also does not work. Even deactivated the LightSpeed Cache plugin, which also did not change anything.

Thanks @bearlydoug for digging this out.

After playing a bit around, I find it works well with my current setup:
    Global Options:
    – use JQuery: YES
    – Make ALL Redirects have rel=”nofollow”?: YES (probably unrelated)
    – Make ALL Redirects open in a New Window? YES (this is what I aim at)
    – Make ALL Redirects this type: Meta Refresh (I think others too)
    – Rewrite ALL Redirects URLs to Show in link ? NO (critical)
    Post options:
    – Make Redirect Active YES (This is what I aim at)
    – Show Redirect URL in link: NO (critical)
    – Type of Redirect: Meta refresh (others may work)

What semt to be causing an issue was the global option “Rewrite ALL Redirects URLs to Show in link ?” or post option “Show Redirect URL in link”: I think it interacts badly with cache.

My setup is with Elementor page builder, WPML, WP Supercache, and Speed Up – Browser Caching, IThemes Seucrity, and many more stuff.
(although I realize I had all the cache plugins desactivated while testing lately).

@bodhi1970 I wish you get it straight too. After disabling the problematic option, you may like to try in a new link (I think some caching is somehow still there otherwise).

@bodhi1970, please start your own thread. And indicate (in that thread) which link is not working.

@agneslesagegmailcom, I’m still not sold as to why we would need to have the “Rewrite ALL Redirects URLs to Show in LINK?” option within the plugin itself. Let me do some digging into that to see if it’s really a needed “feature”.

With the fact that more and more sites are using caching, and if “Rewrite ALL Redirects URLs to Show in LINK?” is, indeed, the culprit, then we may have to re-evaluate the need for this option.

It’s the same issue! Wonder why I should open a new thread?

@bearlydoug In my case it semt to be the culprit, not sure if it is with server or possibly rather browser caching.
“Rewrite ALL Redirects URLs to Show in LINK?” is nice but not absolutely required, I gave it up with little regret to get things work. In case of internal redirects (with no new window target), it may still be usefuL.
It tests confirm this is the point, you may remove the option or put a big warning like for the Jquery?
