• hello,

thank you very much for continuing this very useful plugin. i have started to use your newer version – but i am having issues with option to open in new window.

i have tried selecting it from the individual redirect, which didnt work so i also selected it in the plugin options to open ALL in new window.

note on page link – i have set the post links (products) to redirect to an external website in a new window.

wondering if you might have any suggestions.

    cheers.

  • Good morning, @mrcavallo!

Under WP-Admin -> Quick Redirects -> Redirect Options, did you enable (place a check into the box) “Use jQuery”?

If so, please uncheck that, save it and see if your new windows start to open.

    hi @bearlydoug,

i appreciate your quick reply. i have tried both checking and unchecking this option. originally checked it as i thought it was recommended. but tried unchecked after your advice. still links to external page without pop up.

i also tried to add one manually under Quick Redirects – again did not open new window. i can confirm Quick Redirects worked with previous version using same theme and plugins.

anything else i should try? thank you.

I need to figure out why version 1.0.1 isn’t showing… will have that resolved tomorrow. When I get that pushed out, please test with that version. There’s a couple bug fixes I did in there. ??

ok awesome. look forward to trying it out. thanks so much for keeping this active.

Okey-doke… finally realized what I did wrong to trigger the update notification. Was a really simple issue: CHANGE THE VERSION INFO! ::laughs::

1.0.1 had been downloadable since the 8th… though it was still reflecting 1.0.0.

See if that helps with your issues, Mr. Cavallo. If not, I’ll dig into it a bit more. ??

    hey @bearlydoug,

i regret to let you know the issue still remains after updating the plugin.

i have tried both checking and unchecking JQuery. i have tried various configurations – such as selecting options withing each individual post – to global options. all recommend having JQuery selected, so i have rechecked it for now.

i am more than happy to give you admin access if you are curious about the issue.

    cheers.

Any chance you might have a Javascript debugger? (If using Firefox, it’s available with the Firebug extension/add on).

    hi BearlyDoug,

i use Chrome and opened up Console – it comes up with 1 error:

JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 1.4.1
    https://staging.charliesalon.com.au/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery-migrate.min.js?ver=1.4.1
blob:https://staging.charliesalon.com.au/ee9ea5e0-fc9e-4362-9b2e-20cb6508dbf6:1 Failed to load resource: net::ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND

no idea what this is or if it helps. let me know if there is anything else i can try to pinpoint issue.

    thanks.

@mrcavallo, are you using any kind of a Javascript/CSS Minimizer plugin/utility? If so, please disable that, clear your cache and try to see if your links open in a new window.

    (@mrcavallo)

    hi BearlyDoug,

the only one i could think of was pop-up maker – i have tried to disable this – in fact i just disabled every plugin – except Redirects and Fusion Core (site wont even work without this) – cleared cache and the problem still persists. tried it on a couple of different browsers as well.

not end of the world for me – it would just have been nice to have this feature to keep visitors on the site.

    cheers.

@mrcavallo, I’ve made some changes to the javascript files… removed a couple items and corrected another issue in almost every javascript file. I further validated that the JS is semantically correct, so there should be no conflicts. ??

    https://thefan.net/js.zip

Please download that file and unzip it into the following folder (Remove all 8 JS files and replace with these):
    wp-content/plugins/rw_Quick-PagePost-Redirects/js

Please let me know when you’ve downloaded the js.zip file so I can delete it from the link above. ??

hi BearlyDoug – i have downloaded the file thanks. i will give it a go when i get a chance a little later. really appreciate the effort mate. fingers crossed! will let you know asap.

    cheers.

hi BearlyDoug – i feel really bad letting you know the new js files have not made any difference. again i tried a number of different configurations. all redirect just fine, just cannot seem to get a new window to pop up.

if you do want to access admin – you can email me at mrcavallo at outlook.com

but like i said – i can live with it as is.

    thank you.

@toddedelman, I apologize for the delay. Been a little swamped with the day job.

I have time set aside for this afternoon to devote to troubleshooting the issues everyone’s brought up, so I will be doing that, and hopefully continuing development of v2 today.
